
Allison Brooks Janney, born on 19 November 1959 [2] in America is an American actress. The actress is known for her work across various genres on stage and screen throughout her three decades of career. Janney was nominated twice for Tony Awards and has been given an Academy Award as well as a British Academy Film Award. Janney was raised in Dayton and Boston by her parents, earned a scholarship through the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art for her to study further after having graduated from Kenyon College. After a few years of marginal and non-credited television and film appearances her breakthrough came in her role as C. J. Cregg in the NBC political drama The West Wing (1999-2006) in which she won four Primetime Emmy Awards. For her portrayal of Margaret Scully, a Showtime actress in"Masters of Sex," a period television drama Masters of Sex, Janney took home her 2014 Primetime Emmy Award as Outstanding guest actor in a drama Series.
